The restoration of this ostrich egg container set, a property of the McBean Estate and the Preservation Society of Newport County, involved working with mixed materials, one of our favorite challenges. Over 20 pieces of this set were broken or missing. Some we had recast at a jewelry foundry, others we cut and 'chased' from sheet silver. The shattered eggs were cleaned, reinforced and put together again. The parts were repatinated lacquered, and reassembled.
